This tour will allow us to spend unforgettable moments in a desert area between Saint-Louis and Dakar (the Lompoul desert) and to discover an exceptional fauna and flora, the migratory birds of the two nature reserves of Saint-Louis classified as World Heritage by Unesco, two real major migratory bird wintering sites with nearly 370 species observed on 16 000 hectares for the Djoudj National Park and 2000 ha for the NATIONAL PARK of the Langue de Barbarie There are also many mammals such as jackals, red monkeys, hyenas gazelles, and several reptile species. Saint Louis is a city of art and history, which occupies a preponderant place in the Senegalese tourist environment, the city is built on the sandy banks of the mouth of the Senegal River. The omnipresence of water is an essential feature, which made the region an important intercultural trade hub. This area offers incomparable biodiversity and historic sites and Saint-Louis has been classified as a Unesco World Heritage since 2000.

Day 1: Hexagon – Saly - Dakar

– Transfer to the hotel in Dakar about 54 km of road, arrival, installation at the hotel, dinner and overnight

Day 2: Dakar – Goree – Lac Rose (Pink Lake)

Breakfast, city tour of Dakar, visit of the various attractions of the capital, departure with the boat to the Gorée Island (about 20 minutes). Goree is a memorable symbol of the slave trade in Africa, a “memory island” classified as UNESCO World Heritage Site, stroll through the nice lanes lined with houses that date back to the colonial era, lunch in a restaurant of the place, visit the House of Slaves, return to Dakar early afternoon, departure for the discovery of the Rosa Lake (at 37 km from Dakar), installation at the camp. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lac Rose (Pink Lake) – Lompoul (150 km)

Breakfast, car ride or walk around the pink Lake to the discovery of a natural curiosity, it is pink when the sun is plumb, and at dusk the pink darkens to take shades nuances of purple, there is a high concentration of salt, women from surrounding villages extract the salt that is deposited at the bottom of the lake. It was the last stage of the Paris-Dakar rally, canoe trip and lunch in a lakeside restaurant, departure for Lompoul which is also another majestic curiosity, arrival and installation at the Ecolodge, dinner and overnight.
 

Day 4: Lompoul

Breakfast, full-day to discover a desert area midway between Dakar and Saint-Louis, camel ride to explore the sand dunes stretching for several kilometers, stroll along the sea (4 kilometers), seaside relaxation, sunset observation, return to the lodge, dinner and overnight.

Day 5 : Lompoul – Saint-Louis – Langue de Barbarie National Park (158 km)

Early wake up, breakfast and departure for the visit of the Langue de Barbarie National Park, it is a long band of about thirty kilometers stretching from the North to the South of Saint-Louis, arrived in Saint Louis, transfer to the Park by canoe on the Senegal River, observation on the route of women picking salt and fishermen, installation at the camp “Heron Cendré”, lunch, canoe ride and partial visit of the park in the afternoon, observation of migratory birds in this beautiful landscape, return to the camp, dinner and overnight.

Day 6 : Langue de Barbarie – Saint-Louis – Djoudj National Park (80 km)

Early in the morning, after breakfast, visit to the park and discovery of the fascinating flora and fauna until, canoe ride while observing the nature in peace, visit the of the migratory bird island, return to the camp, lunch , departure for the Djoudj National Park via Saint Louis, arrival and installation at camp Njagabaar, dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Djoudj National Park- Saint-Louis (54 km)

Breakfast and visit of the ornithological reserve of Djoudj, canoe ride along the arm of the river to the gathering place of birds where thousands of migratory birds gather to breed. Observation of other animal species, return to Saint-Louis in the evening, arrival and installation at the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Saint-Louis – Saly (259 km)

Breakfast and city tour of Saint Louis. It is a city of art and history, which occupies a preponderant place in the Senegalese tourist environment, departure for Saly which is a zone of seaside resorts located on the Petite Côte, ancient Portuguese commercial counter, arrival, partial city tour, transfer to Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diass (27km), evaluation of the tour.- End of the tour.
