8 days and 7 nights to discover Saly, Ziguinchor, Cap Skirring, Oussouye, Karabane Island, Retba (Pink Lake), and the Goree Island
Casamance remains an attractive, mysterious and essential tourist destination, we will discover the rural way of life of the localities while participating directly or indirectly in the development of the villages. The Casamance is a spot of predilection for the amateurs of water sports of all kinds, jet-ski, water skiing, sailing windsurfing and many more. Emphasis will be put on the city Oussouye. It is generally quiet and populated by the Diola who have the particularity of organizing unique traditional festivities and ceremonies and very popular with visitors and local people. It is one of the localities in which the traditions and the initiation ceremonies have been well preserved. We will also explore Cape Skirring one of the most beautiful resorts in West Africa, the sand is a rare finesse shaded by coconut palms and palm trees. It is dotted with large bays separated by rocky points.
Day 1: Hexagon – Saly
– Reception by our agent at Blaise-Diagne International Airport in Diass
– Transfert to the hotel in Saly about 27 km of road, arrival, installation at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Saly – Ziguinchor (by flight)
– Breakfast and discovery of the seaside resort Saly Portudad,
– Transfer in the afternoon to the Blaise-Diagne International Airport in Diass for flight to Ziguinchor,
– Arrival in Ziguinchor, transfer to the hotel
– City tour dinner and overnight
Day 3: Ziguinchor – Cap Skirring (140 km)
Day 4: Ziguinchor – Edioungou - Oussouye (43 km)
Day 5: Ziguinchor - Karabane Island (89 km)
Day 6: Ziguinchor – Saly/Dakar
Day 7: Dakar – Lac Rose (Pink Lake)
Breakfast, car ride or walk around the pink Lake to the discovery of a natural curiosity, it is pink when the sun is plumb, and at dusk the pink darkens to take shades nuances of purple, there is a high concentration of salt, women from surrounding villages extract the salt that is deposited at the bottom of the lake, lunch in a lakeside restaurant, return to Dakar and visit of some attractions, the Cathedral of the African Souvenir with its Byzantine-style architecture, the presidential palace with its red guards, the Independence Square with its colonial-style buildings, the big mosque that swarms with people every Friday with its imposing minarets, the African Renaissance Monument,
the craft village of Soumbédioune is a must-see attraction, return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Dakar – Goree - Saly- Diass
Breakfast and departure with the boat to Gorée Island (about 20 minutes). Goree is a memorable symbol of the slave trade in Africa, a “memory island” classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit of the Estrée fort which houses a historical museum, visit the House of Slaves. Walk on the Castel island cliff where we can see the Gorée Almadies Memorial monument, lunch and stroll through the friendly lanes of the island lined with houses that date back to the colonial era, return to Dakar in the afternoon and transfer to the International Airport, Blaise Diagne, evaluation and End of the Tour.
